This report is a summary of the key activities of The Forum across South Africa in the above-mentioned period. It serves to outline the main activities and outcomes achieved by the organisation and its members.

Making Policy Work

Eastern Cape
The O.R. Tambo Advisory Board convened a meeting for all board members from NGOs and CBOs that are funded by the Department of Social Development. The meeting created dialogue and debate about the working relations between the District Advisory Board and the Governing Bodies of NGOs. The members of the Governing Bodies saw a great need for the NGO sector to work together and challenge the maltreatment from the Department. This meeting was attended by 80 people from seven local municipalities. Ivan Siyila was given a platform to announce the Equal Pay for Equal Work march that was held on 28th August 2009 in Bisho and the news were received in very good spirits.
Ivan coordinated another Forum’s meeting to inform NGOs and CBOs about the march in Bisho. Discussions about the matter were intense and all the members thanked the National Welfare Forum for driving such an overdue event. All the members committed to support the march and contributed as much as they could.
