Anna has been active in the development sector in South Africa since 2004, conducting documentation-, communications- and M&E work for organisations including The Forum, Project Support Group, The AIDS Consortium, and CIVICUS.

She has a Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation, and has worked for the European Union office of Human Rights Watch and for the Malawian Centre for Human Rights and Rehabilitation.

After obtaining a BA in Journalism Studies at the University of Sheffield, UK, Anna completed internships at the European Union Council Liaison Office to the United Nations in New York and at the European Parliament in Brussels before joining the European Union bureau of Reuters, where she worked until 2003. She has also worked as a press officer, for the Third United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries, as a mentor for Journalists for Human Rights in Ghana, and as a freelance journalist for publications such as Humanitarian Affairs Review and IPS.
