Based in Tzaneen, Community Responsiveness Programmes (CRP) is an organisation serving rural CBOs in the Limpopo province. It co-ordinates and provides training to community based health workers as well as volunteers in health and social development programmes. CRP’s main objective is to contribute towards the improvement of health and social development systems. It embraces a rural-based model for training and promotion of health and social development services. History The organisation was founded and registered by a professional health nurse in March 1998. Focus areas The organisation has identified a portfolio of focus areas, namely: Access to availability of health and social development services; Comprehensive social security system; HIV and AIDS; Integrated eradication strategy; Integrated management of childhood illnesses; Re-building of community relations; Re-building of family relations, and Re-building social relations. Staff CRP has 14 full-time staff members ranging from health workers to trainers and facilitators. Funders The organisation is currently supported by the Department of Health and Social Development, Limpopo Province, EU and the National Department of Health. Challenges The main challenge faced by CRP is inadequate funding to roll out their work throughout South Africa. The CRP management feels that they would be able to take their work to other provinces, but lack of funding seems to be the only challenge with that regard.
