Despite condemnation of the attacks by former President, Nelson Mandela and various other political figures, the killings continue and there are reports that this spate of violence has spilled over into other areas of Johannesburg. 15th May 2008 - On Sunday night, Alexandra in Johannesburg erupted in violence with residents attacking suspected “foreigners” in a wave of barbaric acts, including burning of homes, shootings and rapes. The mob-based violence was targeting immigrants from Zimbabwe and other African countries in the worst yet spate of xenophobic attacks witnessed in South Africa.
