DOPSTOP is a Stellenbosch-based NGO. Our goal is to create sustainable and healthy rural communities with a commitment to addressing the legacy of the dop system, alcohol abuse and foetal alcohol syndrome among farm workers and their families.

DOPSTOP is seeking to fill the following position: Director

This position is responsible for providing DOPSTOP with the necessary leadership to achieve its objectives. As such, it requires experience in and knowledge of:

    * The agricultural sector and rural / community development
    * Proven project and organisational / staff management
    * Strong strategic planning
    * Fundraising and Financial Management
    * Advocacy and lobbying
    * Policy and legislative engagement
    * Rights based / social justice approaches

Primary competencies

    * Provide strategic leadership and direction to the organisation
    * Raise funds through identifying funders, writing funding proposals
      and liaising with funders
    * Profile the work of DOPSTOP and actively participate in strategic
      partnerships and networks
    * Provide leadership that contributes to the development of the
      organisation and the staff

Requirements:

    * An appropriate tertiary qualification
    * At least 3 years¹ management and leadership experience
    * Demonstrable organisational skills and ability to provide
      leadership to a team
    * Familiarity with the funding environment
    * Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
    * English and Xhosa/ Afrikaans language proficiency
    * Computer literacy
    * Valid driver¹s license

Remuneration dependant on experience. DOPSTOP gives preference to Black Women candidates.
