Faith-based March on Xenophobia Print E-mail

If you were unable to participate in the March last Saturday, here is another one - please spread the word. These activities do help to build solidarity and bring about a different kind of consiousness.

From the Co-ordinator for Justice & Peace Department of the Catholic Archdiocese of Johannesburg:

In March xenophobic attacks in Pretoria were reported and more than two weeks ago,  more xenophobic attacks in the Alexander Township dominated headlines and since then several other incidents of xenophobic attacks in other areas of the province have also been reported. We have read reports of the responses by our church leaders, NGO's and the Governemnt, however, the situation does not change.

It is time for the church community to act as well. J&P Department is organising a march for the 31st May 2008. The march is targeted at the South African society. We need to remind the South African community not to forget where we coming from. It is a disgrace and shocking to see what South African citizens are doing to our fellow brothers and sisters. We need to put a stop to this inhumane and heartless action.

Let us stand united as the churches and let our South African people know that we strongly condemn these atrocities.

Please find attached invitation to a march and advertise widely.
