Forum Network Partner: NACOSS Print E-mail

The Forum and NACOSS have entered an agreement of cooperation to collaborate and coordinate activities in order to strengthen the voice of the sector and provide strategic leadership of its member organisations.

NACOSS, the National Coalition for Social Service, is a voluntary coalition of NGOs which represents thousands of established and emerging organisations at national, provincial and local level. Together, these organisations provide developmental social welfare services to millions of people throughout South Africa.

NACOSS advocates on behalf of its member organisations as well as the recipients of social welfare services, and liaises and lobbies the national and provincial governments on behalf of their constituency. Its work aims to: strengthen and enable member organisations to deliver effective, accessible and sustainable social welfare services; and to implement strategic interventions that promote social justice and appropriate integrated developmental social welfare services throughout South Africa.

The Forum and NACOSS have entered an agreement of cooperation to collaborate and coordinate activities in order to strengthen the voice of the sector and provide strategic leadership of its member organisations. Together the organisations form the Joint Strategic Committee which adopts common positions and makes joint submissions – e.g. on the government’s Policy on Financial Awards for Service Providers. The objectives of the collaboration include to bring about a cohesive policy and legislative framework for the sector and to formulate a framework for partnership with governments.
