Overview
The Gauteng Welfare Summit was launched in 2006 as a step in the process of redefining the partnership between NGOs and government in social service delivery. The Forum co-hosted the first Summit with government on 26-27 October 2006, and is part of the Steering Committee for the post-Summit process towards a follow-up Summit late in 2008.

Follow-up to 2006 Welfare Summit
The Steering Committee meets periodically to follow up on measures and activities agreed on in the resolutions adopted at the 2006 Summit. Report of Steering Committee Meeting 14th December 2007

The 2006 Summit sought to identify the relevant debates and options open to the sector in four interrelated focus areas and with regard to particular issues, namely: 

• Models for partnerships in social welfare delivery;  Report of Focus Group  
• The Integrated Service Delivery Model and its practical application   
• The need for Transformation within the sector in order to assure efectiveness and efficiency of rendered services
