The series kicked off with in the Zwide community in Port Elizabeth
with 29 member orgnisations of the Eastern Cape Forum. The response
from particpants was positive with Brenda Lalela of Sophakama Community
Based Development Care and Support Programme saying “ this workshop has
been helpful for me to understand how to prepare the forms…”On 14th of October, civil society organisations in the Phomolong area near Kroonstad turned out in numbers for The Forum’s workshop on applying for funding from the (NLDTF). The workshop was the first in the Free State and the second in the country in the series. The workshop was organised with the help of Rev Maloka and Ms Mamakgale, from the local NG Church in Phomolong. The 50 participants were taken through the various forms and typical pitfalls in completing them. Again, most of the discussion focussed on the issues of the supporting documentation required for the application. Other scheduled workshops are as follows: • 21 October in Temba, Hammanskraal, North West • 23 October in Secunda, Mpumalanga • 28 October in Vryheid, KZN • 29 October in Empangeni, KZN • 4 & 6 November in Limpopo (Tzaneen & Seshego – To be confirmed) • 6 November in Umtata • 7 November in East London All workshops are free of charge and participants will also receive copies of the application forms. On 3 October The Forum held the first in a series of workshops for Community Based Organisations (CBOs) to assist them with responding to the call for proposals from the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund (NLDTF).
The Forum is hosting this series of workshops as part of its Capacity Building programme and the key focus is to help CBOs understand how to apply for NLDTF funding using the current application forms and application guidelines.
