Ida is in her final year and will graduate from the Mid Sweden University (http://www.miun.se/) in January 2009 with a degree in international and intercultural social work. The Mid Sweden University has a strong international profile and encourages students to gain international experience during their study period. In 2007 they started a student exchange program with the University of Fort Hare in Eastern Cape and Ida was one of four students to be chosen for this programme. She arrived in South Africa in July 2007 and spent one semester at the Fort Hare campus in Alice where she studied social work and development studies. Her work at the National Office means taking an active part in the daily work of The Forum and to gain an understanding of the context within which social work is being carried out in South Africa. So far she has been engaged in compiling programme reports for the biennial report and is currently working on the annual update. Besides being an active part of the staff team at the National Office she is conducting a research project to evaluate the impact of Masibambisane summit that took place in Limpopo last year. The aim of this project to investigate the impact of the summit for the practical work of participating organisations and to produce valuable input for future programme formulation The Forum. The findings of the research will be presented at the Biennial Congress of the International Association of Schools of Social Work in Durban in July this year. |
