 INVITATION TO ATTEND A NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE HUMAN RESOURCE MODEL FOR THE DELIVERY OF SOCIAL WELFARE SERVICES- 28 FEBRUARY 2011 This serves to invite the representatives of the Social Welfare Forum to attend a national workshop on the development of the human resource model for social welfare services. The norms and standards project is currently at the stage where the human resource model for the delivery of social welfare service has to be developed. This process is undertaken within the context of social work as a scarce skill, the drive to professionalise child and youth care work and community development practice, the implementation of the occupation specific dispensation (OSD) for social service professions and OFO. The above mentioned enhances the recognition of the diversity of skills needed for the delivery of social welfare services, hence the need for a broad consultative process on the human resource model. The purpose of the workshop is to engage social service practitioners employed by the Department of Social Development, other government departments and non- governmental organisations as well as human resource practitioners to guide the development of the human resource model. The goal is to determine different practice environments and the most suitable model to be adopted as guided by the nature of services delivered. Members of the social welfare forum are therefore invited to nominate delegates to represent their organizations at the workshop which will take place on Monday, 28 February 2011 at the Manhattan Hotel, Pretoria at 08h00-16h00.
