‘Striving for Quality Public Healthcare’
The Khayelitsha Health Summit - Saturday, 20th - Sunday, 21st Nov 2010 - Umangaliso Primary School - Site B - Khayelitsha

As a direct outcome of the Provincial Health Summit held during 2009 and NGO Week 2010, The Khayelitsha Community Health Forum in association with a range of partners will be hosting a Sub-District Health Summit from Saturday, 20th November to Sunday 21st November 2010 at Umangaliso Primary School, Site B, Khayelitsha.

The purpose of the Summit is to bring together all the role players within health, human rights and related sectors working in the Khayelitsha area  in order to provide an opportunity to interact and share ideas on how best various role players can approach and deal with issues of accelerated quality healthcare service delivery.

Expected Outcomes:

  • To promote and facilitate interaction, communication and information sharing
  • To kick-start an on-going process of dialogue
  • To provide an opportunity to hear community voices and concerns
  • To produce a health map to address various challenges
  • To kick-start a strategy for engagement with Provincial and Local Government during 2011 and beyond
Who should attend? To ensure the broadest participation, representatives from government, business, labour and civil society are encouraged to attend, particularly private and public healthcare service providers, higher education / research institutions, community based and non-governmental organisations, local health representatives, big and small organisations operating in Khayelitsha.

We believe that such a summit has value in allowing you to hear other stakeholder views and issues in context with your own, thus allowing for a more integrated approach to quality healthcare service delivery.
