"Challenges and Opportunities for Service Provision to Refugee Children and Families in South Africa" Date: 1 July 2009 Venue: 37 Murray St,C/O Duncan and Murray Streets, Pretoria Time: 4:00 - 16:00 From March to May 2009, RAO conducted a targeted study of the challenges faced by Musina and Pretoria service providers in providing services to refugee children and families, as well as the challenges faced by children and families in accessing these services. The study included the perspectives of both groups on possible solutions for these challenges. This ground-breaking research unearthed valuable information that gave insight into the realities of the unique experiences of refugee children and families; while at the same time bringing to light some of the oversights that exist in the way service provision for refugees is offered, making it possible for the gap between good intentions and implementation to be bridged in the future.
