In March 2007 The Forum participated in the Masibambisane Summit in Limpopo, which was attended by 300 participants representing CBOs, NGOs and government.

The main aim of the summit was to bring the sector together and promote a meaningful dialogue with the government. It was also projected as an opportunity for practitioners within the sector to share best practices and to form partnerships. The summit dealt with many different issues and a number of workshops were held, addressing: provincial programmes and strategies; the role of the sector in fighting the HIV and AIDS pandemic; treatment, prevention and other core issues. Gaps were identified and recommendations for future practice made, as well as agreements on how different stakeholders would commit in order to turn the tide of the HIV and AIDS pandemic.

The post-summit evaluation results showed a unanimously positive perception of the content and outcomes of the summit and participants expressed that the stated objectives were well achieved. Click here for more information and the full Report of the Summit.
