The NWF and SANGOCO are keen to make a joint submission, given the ramifications of the establishment of a new SETA, which will have a massive impact on our sector. NATIONAL SKILLS AUTHORITY (NSA): HEARINGS ON THE PROPOSED NEW SETA LANDSCAPE
The NSA has reached an advance stage in arriving at its recommendation to the Minister of Higher Education and Training on a possible new SETA landscape for the next five years. The NSA would like to hear your comments and inputs before they finalize their recommendations to the Minister by the end of JULY 2010.
In terms of Section 9 of the Skills Development Act, 1998 (Act No. 97 of 1998), the following criteria have been applied to arrive at the proposed new landscape:
Fit for purpose (the objective of establishing SETAs is to fulfil functions as per the Act)
Coverage of all economic sectors (public and private); (large, medium & small employers similar training needs/ materials/ product/ services)
Financial and operational viability (ability of the SETA to sustain its functions and operations over the long term)

The NSA will be conducting public hearings as from 14 ‐18 June 2010 in Pretoria. Any organised constituency and members of the public willing to make a submission is invited
to register and confirm their intention with the Executive Manager: NSA Secretariat on or before12:00 on 31 May 2010. All applicants will be contacted by no later than 16:00 9 June 2010 to confirm the venue, date and time for submissions.
