 The Montagu Advice Office is a voluntary organization established in 2003 for the promotion of a holistic approach to development in the Western Cape, with special regard to the village of Montagu and surrounds.
In addition to implementing development projects, the organisation provides a paralegal service to organisations and individuals in the areas of: Dismissal Charges; Unfair Labour Practise; HIV/AIDS; Victims of Abuse; Youth; Children; People with Disabilities; Gender; Consumer Affairs; Service Contracts; and Community Development.
Currently the office has more than 600 filed cases ranging from unfair dismissals, farm evictions, defamation, municipal issues, environmental issues, health issues, consumer issues, legal issues and social grants.

Aims & Objectives:
Montagu Advice Office’s primary objective is to advance the understanding and practice of a holistic approach to development in the Western Cape by:
- Promoting the visibility, recognition and understanding of the approach of a holistic approach to development to broader society, government bodies, agricultural and educational institutions, and related professions and disciplines;
- Establishing the growing acceptance of a holistic approach to development and its use as an instrument for productivity, harmony and ecological sustainability at family, community and bioregional levels, in both an urban rural context;
- Promoting awareness of, and lobbying against, practices threatening or adverse to sustainable agriculture and a holistic management of resources;
- Making available to members a comprehensive and detailed database of member skill, training, resources etc. as required;
- To act as conduit for the funding of projects and ventures in the field of a holistic approach to development; and
- To actively link up and network with any other such groups throughout Southern Africa.
The seconday objectives are:
- A holistic approach to development through peer review recognition;
- The promotion and recognition of high standards in education, training and consultation by members in the field of a holistic approach to development;
- The accreditation, by South African Qualifications Authority, of recognized a holistic approach to development course graduates;
- The provision of opportunities to keep members abreast of applicable technology, design movement and networks in the field related to an holistic approach to development;
- The creation, through effective communication, of an attitude of cooperation and support, rather than one of competition between those involved at all levels in the field of a holistic approach to development;
- To promote a holistic understanding of our environment and the interconnectedness of all life as the very basis for our future survival.
