Trust the Difference is part of the InterAction programme that aims to strengthen leadership in contexts where difference leads to tension and threatens peace within communities.

The InterAction 2008-2009 programme will engage with strategic leaders in Sub-Saharan Africa and the UK, who are responsible for national and regional peace and security or are mediators of relationships between diverse groups or gatekeepers to key resources.

The InterAction approach will focus on difference as a key strength in a society, not a threat. Issues of ethnicity, migration, resource control, partisan politics, diversity and race will be the context through which leaders will be reflecting on their own thinking and leadership behaviours.

The programme will equip leaders with new tools of working where peace is threatened. They leave with the ability to change their institutions in line with a peace agenda and identify national and global systems that perpetuate insecurity and disadvantage.

They depart the programme with new insights and experiences that cause a shift in their thinking for good. The programme will begin in December 2008.
